New: PMO Local Interest workgroup
Developments in the project management field are ongoing. This professional field continuously broadens and becomes profounder. Therefore there is a growing need to extend the attention of project management towards program management, portfolio management and project support (PMO). PMO is an acronym, that is used to describe a Project, Program or Portfolio Management Office.
A PMO is a centralized office, an operation centre, within a business or professional enterprise that enables and supports the execution of multiple projects and programs at the same time in a standard manner. From initiation to completion. A PMO has the aim to achieve an optimum performance for the organization as a whole.
Today, organizations are challenged to be constantly on the move, in transition and to be proactive against the changes in the business environment or society. At the same time organizations run multiple projects and programs, each responding to a different challenge.
Although the existence of a PMO is based largely on project management, its influence goes beyond the project environment. In the business or professional environment, a PMO is the liaison between the business and professional and project participants.
A PMO is a driver for operational excellence and seeks to improve the practices of execution management, organizational governance, and strategic change leadership.
In this light PMI Netherlands Chapter has decided to start a PMO Local Interest workgroup.
On January 31st we will announce the Local Interest workgroup during the Annual meeting and the presentation: The Added Value of PMO.
For our workgroup we are looking for enthusiastic members who are interested to participate and built this workgroup. Our aim is to bring PMO to a higher professional level. Should you have any further questions or if you want to sign up for the workgroup please contact Tjalling Klaucke.
